Stephen and Hide guided us carefully through a planning process that lasted a year. They are very good at communicating, giving us multiple iterations of plans and budgets. This was critical not only to realize the final project, but also to minimize change orders. Their knowledge of city codes and expertise in how a house lives guided us so well. Hide’s attention to detail in the design process and his dedication to a modern aesthetic results in functional beauty. Stephen, Hide, and Brett worked seamlessly, managing all the subcontractors and progressing the construction quickly. We found building Lab to be highly knowledgeable and transparent. During the build communication was excellent. We had weekly meetings and site visits and constant emails/phone calls. In any construction project challenges are inevitable, and building Lab helped us tackle each of these in a way that worked with our budget and kept our end goal in mind. This company is honest and ethical, if there was something they didn’t anticipate (which was rare), they dealt with it ethically from a financial perspective. This really impressed us. Anyone considering this company can be confident in their decision to place their faith in this business. Construction was very well planned and executed. Everything was meticulously coordinated, and Hide managed the design and project wonderfully. The team made sure anything that needed adjusting or re-painting was done quickly and well. Once again, the attention to detail is just superb. The finishing process revealed how much pride this company takes in the outcome. We are continuing work on the house to finish our backyard and our ADU and building Lab is working with us on this as well. We trust them implicitly. Highlights -Kitchen–This is truly a dream kitchen for my wife who loves to cook. It is beautiful and functional. -Cabinetry–The warmth of the wood and incredibly high detail add a level of modern sophistication that I love. -Stairway–The level of planning, and detail that went into a single stairway, revealed to us how much building Lab cares about design and how meticulously they can execute a modern aesthetic. My architect friend saw it and just said “wow”. -The flow and functionality–Throughout the project they kept the function of the house as a priority. The house works so well for us and our children. Overall, we give building Lab our highest recommendation without reservation. We will engage them in any future renovations or builds without hesitation. “The project that EBCON Co. did for me wrapped up about a week ago. I thought they did an excellent job. The project was to design and build an ensuite addition to my house for my disabled sister, who will be moving in with me in a couple of months. I hired EBCON for the project as they had done my home remodel when I moved into my current house 10 years ago. I was very happy with that project and pleased that several of their key personnel and subcontractors were the same as for my previous project. The current project consisted of a bedroom/studio, bath, hallway/study, walk-through clothes closet, lots of storage space, and small outdoor patio with wheelchair ramp. As my sister is an artist and art teacher, we asked for a design that provided high walls for hanging her paintings and extra space in the bedroom/studio for her to paint and potentially teach a few students. The design process went very well. The designer worked constructively with us and made numerous trips to tile, stone, and carpet stores with us to select materials. We greatly appreciated the detailed plan skeches she generated, some of which showed my sister’s paintings up on the walls in her bedroom/studio! Challenges, including access to the addition through existing bedrooms and integrating the design with the existing house, were solved well. ADA guidelines for accessibility were strictly followed for the design and materials. We – and all our family and friends - love the design and how it has turned out. The construction work was very high quality – EBCON has very high standards for the work done on their projects, including for the smallest details. The EBCON team and the sub-contractors they brought in were great to work with through all the stages, including design, construction, and completion. In addition to weekly on-site progress meetings (which included the project manager, superintendent, designer, and often the head of the company), I was kept informed on a daily basis about what was happening and the timing for next steps. EBCON staff were always on site while work was being done, and they were always reachable for conversations. Overall we are very happy with the project. I would definitely use EBCON again were I to have another project, and I recommend them without reservation to anyone planning a large or small home construction or renovation project.”
