Marilyn Kimberly Hill is a Nashville-based interior designer. Her firm, Marilyn Kimberly, focuses on creating boutique spaces tailored to our clients' budgets. We specialize in collaborating with other building professionals, vendors, and homeowners/buyers to create a bespoke solution. Boutique and costly are not synonymous. We ascribe to the belief that form follows function. Beautiful spaces, if not functional, miss the mark. We assist and collaborate with our clients to design the space they aspire. Our focus is adding value to their life through design - catering the function to their lifestyle, and the aesthetic beauty they desire. Our design process starts and ends with the client in mind. We collaborate, assist, and advocate for our clients throughout the design and building process. We pay attention to what our clients say when they don't realize they're saying anything. It's our duty to listen to their desires for the project, so that when the project comes to an end and the space is finished, what is reflected in the finish space is our client, not us. Feel free to reach out to us, we would love to hear from you!

Located in Nashville, Tennessee, Usable Space Interiors is an interior design consulting firm that provides guidance for the residential/commercial client, builder, and/or architect. Our main goal is to create design results with a cohesive theme, a beautiful environment, and "usable space" functionality, while maintaining a budget. By embracing our clients ideas, we aspire to transform their project in to a professional extension of their vision. A little bit about CEO, Pamela Standish- "My passion for organization, color, and interior design began as a young girl. Throughout the past few decades, I have been involved in interior design, organization, staging and renovations. I believe that interior design is not just about being creative and having an eye for harmonizing color, but it is also about having the ability to understand the “big picture”, the “most minute detail”, and how they tie together". "I actually think my love for beautiful kitchens stems from my love of cooking. As a Korean-Italian girl, wife and mom... (for a family of 5), good food and creative cooking has been central to our family life, thus, having a functional... yet, beautiful environment to work in has become as passion for me... not only in my own home, but for my clients. That my passion for kitchen design has morphed into my obsession for bathroom design... I just love all kinds of tile, marble, granite, stone, cement, & wood". "... and because I genuinely do love all design styles (mid-century, modern, rustic, traditional, farmhouse, vintage etc.), my personal goal for each client is not to impose my style onto them, but rather to have an environment that is reflective of their design goals, while providing solutions to their design challenges. Our goal at USI is to design beautiful homes that progress over time and reflect each clients’ ever-evolving lifestyles, while focusing on long-term, timeless pieces".
There is JOY in creating inspiring spaces that evoke a warm, relaxed, & collected feel. However, when we see our same spaces, day in and day out, we often lose perspective. Gracious Spaces brings its clients a fresh set of eyes that provide practical, functional solutions while adding a timeless, classic appeal. Through our interior styling/restyling services, we are able to help homeowners better tell their own unique story. Home should always reflect those things we cherish most.

So you’re thinking of remodeling? Things You Should Consider when Choosing a Contractor You want someone you feel comfortable with since this person will be in your home on a daily basis. You will work very closely with this person all through the renovation process, sometimes through stressful situations. It is SO IMPORTANT that your contractor is a good communicator, a great muli-tasker and problem solver. This is my element. I enjoy the controlled chaos of remodeling. I communicate daily on where we are, what to expect, decisions you need to be making and your customer supplied finishes to purchase to keep the process going. A Remodeling Contractor is Very Different than a Home Builder Many home builders are getting into remodeling now because of the economic market. But, choosing a contractor experienced in dealing with older homes that are not plumb and level is crucial in preventing costly mistakes and lower quality outcomes. Remodeling entails blending old materials with new materials, old codes with new codes, settled and unleveled walls and floors with new construction and converting old floor plans into new, open floor plans. I know the classic 1950's, 1960's homes well and what obstacles they can present while transforming them to open, modern spaces. We can also update your newer homes to upgrade some of the “builder grade” finishes that were in place when you purchased your home. But...I can definitely build you a brand new home if that is your direction. So, take a look at some of my past projects and hopefully you'll consider me when you're ready to start your remodeling project. I have plenty of references for you to call, and I can even take you to some of my past customers and present job sites to let you see my work for yourself.

As a young girl, I spent my free time drawing….hats, purses and gloves to pass the time. Once I learned to sew, my love for fabrics and constructing items from fabrics was born. It was only natural that I pursued my passion graduating from Texas Tech University with a degree in Fashion Design. My journey took an unexpected turn from fashion design to windows, rooms and spaces, but it has been a blessing in disguise. In 2002, I started JLS Designs as a stay at home mom, and gradually JLS Designs turned into a full time business. I feel so grateful to wake up everyday to do what I love and still have the ability and flexibility to be involved in my boys’ schools and activities. I love the feel and texture of fabrics and the emotions that they bring to a room or outdoor space. My biggest reward is hearing clients express how they feel living in their new, beautiful rooms. I am excited being able to work my magic for them. I enjoy working at whatever level of need my client may have. You have the option to be involved as much as you would like or are willing. I even have some husbands that want to be involved…and that’s OK with me too!
