Upon purchase of their new house, the homeowner was determined to make this house their home- A home environment that would accommodate their functional necessities on a day to day basis for a growing family of seven. The overall structure of the house was altered in a variety of ways- not only aesthetically, but the floor-plan was drastically re-configured to create an open floor plan in the central core, as well as a considerable master wing extension. The floor-plan was to be practical, energy efficient, spacious, and multi-functional while utilizing modern finish materials, new plumbing fixtures and appliances, updated ceiling treatments, decorative light fixtures, as well updated furnishings and décor throughout. What was once an interior that felt compartmentalized, and melancholy has been given a new life featuring a design aesthetic that is vibrant, textural and classic.‍ Build: Justin Turley Interior Design: Story

This Phoenix ADU was thoughtfully designed for a young family who wanted to create a welcoming, independent living space for their grandmother—right in their own backyard. The challenge: design a compact yet comfortable home that honors their love for mid-century modern design while blending seamlessly with the main residence. We incorporated signature mid-century elements like clean lines, warm wood tones, and minimalist finishes. The exterior was custom-built to match the architecture of the existing home, maintaining visual cohesion across the property. Inside, the space includes an open-concept kitchen and living area, a full bath, in-unit laundry, and private entry—perfectly suited for independent daily living while staying close to family. A Multi-Generational Property Designed for Connection and Comfort This Scottsdale property was reimagined from the ground up to create a cohesive, multi-generational living environment. Our clients came to us with the goal of building a forever home where three generations could live side by side—while maintaining privacy, independence, and functionality for everyone. City code restrictions prevented a detached garage, so we designed a connected garage structure with two distinct sides: a side-entry 3-car garage facing the new casita for the grandparents, and a front-facing 2-car garage for the main house—each with its own driveway and use. We expanded the main home by 1,000 square feet and converted a 1,500 square foot workshop into a fully custom, high-end casita for Grandma and Grandpa. Outdoor spaces were just as important, with a site layout that supports both shared gatherings and quiet retreats—a place where each generation can connect or recharge in their own way. This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful design can bring families closer—without sacrificing space, style, or function.
