The elegant feel of this home flows throughout the open first-floor and continues into the mudroom and laundry room, with gray grasscloth wallpaper, quartz countertops and custom cabinetry. Laundry & Mud Room

Just off the main hall from our Baker's Kitchen project was a dark little laundry room that also served as the main entry from the garage. By adding cement tiles, cheerful navy cabinets and a butcher block counter, we transformed the space into a bright laundry room that also provides a warm welcome to the house.

This Altadena home is the perfect example of modern farmhouse flair. The powder room flaunts an elegant mirror over a strapping vanity; the butcher block in the kitchen lends warmth and texture; the living room is replete with stunning details like the candle style chandelier, the plaid area rug, and the coral accents; and the master bathroom’s floor is a gorgeous floor tile. After the mud room addition, the dogs have their own personal bowls and a customized washing area for when they come in from outside. Plato Prelude cabinets provide plenty of cabinet space for dog food and other items. One golden retriever and four flat coated retrievers = a lot of food storage needs! Porcelain fired earth ceramics 18" field tile was installed for a durable floor. An LG Hi-Macs Volcanics Solid Surface material was used on the counter tops featuring built-in food bowls. Hooks were conveniently added for hanging leashes by the door. As if this was not enough, the dogs can exit the mud room and run into the fenced backyard with their own in-ground pool! The dogs love the new amenities but the homeowners have a spectacular kitchen, improved dining/coffee experience, an efficient flow from the kitchen to the backyard, and functional designs to make their life easier.

Diane Wagner This client not only needed a new kitchen but they had no storage, no mudroom, and useless closet in the garage. We took over the closet made it part of the laundry room to recess the washer and dryer , add an indoor closet and allow space for a mudroom and extra storage. The kitchen was gutted and we added a large center island, custom cabinets, and eat in area . We added a slider with a transom so the table could be round. The Family room we added a sectional and added a ship lap wall. We lowered the mantle and added left over granite from kitchen for the surround. Both Island the wood mantle are painted the same gray tone.

Ample storage and function were an important feature for the homeowner. Beth worked in unison with the contractor to design a custom hanging, pull-out system. The functional shelf glides out when needed, and stores neatly away when not in use. The contractor also installed a hanging rod above the washer and dryer. You can never have too much hanging space! Beth purchased mesh laundry baskets on wheels to alleviate the musty smell of dirty laundry, and a broom closet for cleaning items. There is even a cozy little nook for the family dog.

The laundry room / mudroom in this updated 1940's Custom Cape Ranch features a Custom Millwork mudroom closet and shaker cabinets. The classically detailed arched doorways and original wainscot paneling in the living room, dining room, stair hall and bedrooms were kept and refinished, as were the many original red brick fireplaces found in most rooms. These and other Traditional features were kept to balance the contemporary renovations resulting in a Transitional style throughout the home. Large windows and French doors were added to allow ample natural light to enter the home. The mainly white interior enhances this light and brightens a previously dark home. Architect: T.J. We redesigned this client’s laundry space so that it now functions as a Mudroom and Laundry. There is a place for everything including drying racks and charging station for this busy family. Now there are smiles when they walk in to this charming bright room because it has ample storage and space to work!
