Leader Builders converted this unfinished Chicago Cape Cod attic into a master retreat. The master bedroom and sitting area are located under the existing dormers, with original exposed brick walls adding great character. We built two more dormers for added light and height, one for a bathroom and the other for a new staircase which now opens to the first floor. There was also room for an office/guest room. It was important that the new dormers match the original ones, so brick was the material of choice. The owners loved the vaulted ceiling, which we heightened by raising low crossbeams. There is a ton of storage including his and hers closets in the master bedroom and floor-to-ceiling built-ins in the bathroom. The addition provided a more cost-effective solution than moving for a growing family while allowing them to stay in the home and neighborhood they loved.
