Logan Square

Renovation of a 110-year old brick 3-flat in Logan Square, incorporating the basement and 1st floor into one unit.

The homeowners want to continue to enjoy their home throughout retirement, so the architect incorporated universal design principals, including making the 1st floor their primary living space and specifying double doors throughout.

The home was also designed with entertainment in mind, with multiple spaces that encourage conversation including a unique circular peninsula in the kitchen.

One of the owners has a passion for interior design and decorated the 1st floor in the Maximalist style, including a textured gold ceiling and wallpaper accent walls.

The 1st floor front layout and architectural features including the box beam ceiling were kept as existing. The rear layout was reworked into a galley kitchen and a long, private hallway within the master suite.
