Telluride Compound
The Gold Creek Ranch is approximately 100 acre compound located just outside of Telluride Colorado up the Alta Lakes Road. This project was designed and built by Steeprock Builders, project management was by Justin Stratman of Artisan Builders. This was a multi year project with only snowmobile access during the winter months, organization and foresight were key to the success of this project. Gold Creek is a compound of buildings and landscaping features situated on flat bench below the Ophir Needles. The site is off the grid and utilizes solar panels and a large bank of batteries to produce the power that is needed for the 5 buildings. There is a true hand hewn, dovetail oak cabin from the 1860' restored and rebuilt with custom details throughout. The barn was all built from reclaimed materials including a hand powered elevator from the original ice house in Telluride. The carriage house has slightly battered stone walls that give a slight notion to a center roof pitch of 16/12. There is also the studio that is right next to a water feature in the courtyard. The water for this feature is piped in at a 1% from a 1/4 mile away at the source of Gold Creek.
Truely a unique project.
