White, Blue & Walnut Kitchen

From an outdated 90's kitchen with oak cabinets and laminate countertop, to a fully functional, spacious kitchen with a modern color palette of white and blue!

When first looking at a re-design this kitchen, the peninsula and small breakfast nook area had to go. We had to move the cooktop and hood fan over towards the right (to exterior wall), to gain space to relocate the sink to the left side of the dishwasher. The dishwasher, refrigerator and microwaved remained in their existing locations. We extended the cabinets into the breakfast nook area to gain more storage, which included two pantries and a floating coffee area with glass doors above for stemware display.

The 3' x 9' island has given even more storage, which is primarily used food preparation with drawers for utensils, pots and pans, and an open cabinet for cookbooks. The island also has room for two seats and is topped with a gorgeous black walnut thick countertop.

As for the finishes for this kitchen, we chose a classic look with a modern twist on the island. The wall and pantry cabinets are in a matte white thermoplastic with subway tile backsplash with a slight marble vein in a herringbone pattern. All bottom cabinets are in a matte navy blue thermoplastic. We have used matte black as accent pieces on the handles, sink and faucet.
