Hello, the hearth is a flagstone, called Tennessee crab orchard, its quarried in a brownish color and a grey color. the crab orchard flagstone is typically very smooth and flat, ideal for patios so people don't trip.

I also really liked this horse! I searched Horse Weathervanes and found one on eBay; cut it down, and mounted it on a piece of wood like in the picture. Perfect!
