Henry Island Rustic Bedroom, Seattle
This project occupies a low ridge at the tip of a small island and is flanked by a beach to either side. The two beaches suggested the image of the two-faced god Janus who was the inspiration for the design. The house is flanked by two large porches, one facing either beach, which offer shelter from the elements while inviting the visitors outdoors. Three buildings are linked together to form a string of buildings that follow the terrain. Massive concrete columns lend strength and support while becoming part of the language of the forest in which the house is situated. Salvaged wood forms the majority of the interior structure and the floors. Light is introduced deep into the house through doors, windows, clerestories, and dormer windows. The house is organized along two long enfilades that order space and invite long views through the building and to the landscape beyond.

They were made by Northstar Woodwoorks. I think these are 8 or 9-foot doors.

The paint color was custom, but you may find Benjamin Moore's White Dove to be close. We don't have record of the sconces.

Love watching t.v. as you drift off to sleep but just don't have the room or wall space for an armoire or to mount that flat screen? The foot of the bed comes to the rescue once again. With just the press of a button your t.v. will gracefully rise up from the cabinet in which it's hidden. When you're all done, press the button and the t.v. becomes a nice cabinet, once again.

Although I'm not typically a fan of the vintage kitschy owls our parents or grandparents seemed to be so fond of, this particular piece seems to strike a chord with me. Perhaps it's the clean white walls or the mimicking woodwork, or maybe it's simply the piece's large scale, but I find this wooden owl to be so very cool.
