To get the distressed worn look, I have seen people paint the door first in varying shades of color. In this case, 2 shades of beige, but not fully, just enough to add color in varying places.
Then you can rent an electric hand sander at your local home improvement store and get varying degrees of sandpaper (grit levels.) Then sand off varying levels of paint to get the look.

Kit Pollard added this to Propped: When Not to Hang
Speaking of vintage materials, I love this use of propped doors as a headboard (though to do this right, a casual prop wouldn't be enough—you'd need to make sure it's sturdy).

These weathered doors have been transformed into a beautiful and architectural headboard. If you only have one door, hang it horizontally at headboard height.

10. Maintain and enhance. Once your bedroom is in order, make a promise to spend a few minutes each day maintaining the space. Make your bed in the morning, put laundry in the hamper at night and try to clear out drawers and cupboards every few months. I am a big believer in designing over time, so don't worry if you can't run right out and purchase everything you want right away.Keep a shopping list handy as well as an inspiration board or ideabook on Houzz, so when you are ready to add something new, it will be something you love.More bedroom design ideas:Browse thousands of bedroom design photosYour Perfect Bedroom: Calm and Airy or Moody and Dark?Desks in the Bedroom — Yea or Nay?

7. Design around a single statement piece. These two doors that create the headboard are fun and unique. Notice that they are centered on the chandelier in the room, and everything else revolves around these main pieces. Every item in this room is different, although they do all share a refurbished look. Keeping this room simple and uncluttered adds to the integrity of the design. How to make a rustic-chic headboard from salvaged doors
Toronto Interior Design Group added this to 13 Decorating Tips for Short-Term Renters
Instead of a headboard, you can use fun salvaged finds, such as old doors, shipping pallets, wood planks or a room divider. You’ll probably be able to sell them back to a salvage store if you don’t want to take them with you, or you can transform them into a fun new DIY (like a charming garden table).
