Try solarizing weeds. Use the lingering summer heat and abundant sunshine to combat weeds that have gotten out of hand. This entirely chemical-free method involves covering the soil and using the sun to heat it to 99 to 125 degrees Fahrenheit (about 37 to 51 degrees Celsius), killing weeds, weed seeds and some soil-borne pathogens.
