Hi Gloss Laundry Room Transitional Laundry Room, Chicago
This hardworking mud/laundry room went from dingy to fresh. It is a great example of white NOT making a poorly lit, windowless room "light and airy" -
it just made it gray, dingy and scuff-marked. The fresh hi-gloss walls recede yet bounce needed light around the room and
draw your eye up to the new chrome light fixture, making the industrial-chic space feel extra tall and bright. DIY projects including a utility sink skirt made from a shower curtain, salvaged old window turned mirror/bulletin board and a dry erase garage door make this room personal and fun.
It is now a family-friendly, functional and stylish space worthy of being “off the kitchen.”

Nicky29, the wire shelves were standard builder stock, they can be purchased at any big box hardware store.

No fancy instructions needed - just cut it to size, fold over one edge and secure with fabric hemming glue (the other edge will already be sewn), adhere long velcro strip to both fabric and sink and then stick together, that's about it!

It's Sherwin Williams Turkish Coffee 6076. In the future, if you just scroll over the picture you will often times see a green tag - that tag lists info about the project including things like paint names. Best!

Interior designer Cathy Zaeske got the same clean, finished look in her personal laundry room by attaching a skirt to a utility sink with Velcro. To make it, she modified a shower curtain. She says that dressing the sink made the room, which is visible from the kitchen, look more finished.“I wanted to make my laundry-mudroom a place that I didn’t hate,” she says. “One day I realized that I spend a lot of time passing through that room — it’s our entry to the garage — and I wanted to make it a bit easier on the eye. I use the space under the sink to store odd-shaped items, and I wanted to hide them.”
