Backsplash material? - Your kitchen is beautiful! I love the wood floor and cabinetry with the fresh whites elsewhere. It's a bit hard to tell what you've used for a backsplash, but I think it's what I need for our kitchen. Can you provide details?
I love the slate look altho my kitchen is dark. This is a candid pic of the kitchen I am redoing . I may just go with the slate look and keep walls and countertop brighter! Thank you for your ideas....
The two large windows will help a lot with light. In some of my other rooms, I use lace panels to let in light but still give privacy. Penney's makes an inexpensive lace panel called Shari - I just bought some for my daughter's room and I've used it in my own room. You do not need to change your window treatment, but mounted within the window casing, possibly by a tension rod, a lace curtain would show off the pretty woodwork - like this example:
