My name is Barb Preston; I’m the owner and only employee of Pinto Design LLC. My office is located in Winthrop, a small town in the Methow Valley in north central Washington.
My career began in the engineering business when we were still drawing everything by hand. I used ACAD when it first came out.
In 1995 as I transitioned from engineering in Seattle to architectural design in the Methow Valley, I started using 3d Home Architect, and quickly upgraded to Chief Architect V 3.1. I’m currently using X7.
Having been a long time ACAD user in Mechanical engineering, I found Chief Architect very easy to use and learn.
The ability to show my clients their home in 3D has been a very valuable tool, and gives me an edge over my competition.
My business is mostly residential design, but I’ve also done some fun commercial projects; a hotel, a retail store/deli, a physical therapy/athletic facility, and most recently a restaurant and a theater.
I’ve worked with clients remotely, from as far away as Taiwan. Having the ability to send 3d views via a pdf file enables my clients to see what they’re getting during the design process.
Chief Architect, and the amazing support of the power users on the Chief Talk bulletin board has helped me be more proficient and productive, helping my business succeed.
