1209 residence
This project is a full interior and exterior renovation to a 1920’s Italianate residence in Country Club Hills, MO. The architectural style and quality of the 1920’s house is largely intact on the exterior but, subsequent interior renovations and an addition completed in the 1980’s has left the house disorganized and
architecturally confused. FD|A’s design intent is to correct the plan and massing of the house in keeping with the original Italianate style. The design of the interior renovation will take on a new character that is also in keeping with the formality of the original design but doing so with contemporary materials and detailing. The interplay between thickened walls and openings with intricate detailing and material consideration will create an interior that is both comforting and delicate.
