1850's Historical Home
This house in Catlett, VA was built in the 1850’s and was used as a hospital during the Civil War. The current owner inherited the property and moved here from California with the intent of restoring the property to its original appearance.
Delta Design replaced many of the cedar shingles with new wood. We also restored the balcony area above the front door with new shingles and new floorboards to make the balcony usable again. We replaced several windows with old-style vintage glass that was custom cut to fit the diamond pattern of the window frame. We reconstructed the shutters from existing wood components in storage on the property.
The metal roof was painted with Sherwin-Williams Direct-to-Metal (DTM) paint, using the “Silver Bright” color. We repaired the flashing on the roof at the chimneys, and patched and primed several holes prior to painting.
