18th Century Louis XV bombe commode
In late 90's we were approached by a high end antique dealer, who had a dilemma on his hands.
He had a very old centries old Louis XV Walnut bombe commode which he had sold for $70000. He had left it on the showroom floor and had another client who loved it and wanted a pair of them for his penthouse apartment. He asked us if we were able to reproduce it, we said sure thing. The end result was an extraordinary piece that was so fantastic. It looked like an original. Peter Day had done remarkabled work with his extra ordinary antique finish. Every project he works on, he approaches it like a work of art, to give it that unique feel.
The final product of the picture below was made from actual Pear wood. Yes the fruit that we eat.
It was a fantastic timber to work with, It made me hungry for fruit flan!
See below pics of the original and the final product.
