1970's Remodel

This is my first remodel. My husband and I worked with contractors who are friends of ours and together we created a beautiful, functional space. Our vision was to intertwine a few different looks. We took a midcentury modern, urban loft and minimalist approach to create a space with simplicity, warmth and a touch of glamour. One of my favorite spaces is the galley kitchen!

1978 Remodel in a golf course community.

Home sits on a 1/3 acre on a corner lot in a culdesac.

Took both pergola's down and rebuilt one new pergola that sits off family room slider. Removed overgrown bushes.

Double Door Front Entry - thought about keeping the doors, sanding them down and painting black, but decided a sleek modern look would work better. Also thought about sanding down the wood on the railing and reusing it. Had a custom staircase and railing made instead. Put black slate in entry...

Removed popcorn ceiling, removed cedar wrap on the wood beams and got them down to the bare wood - sanded and restained them. Removed old baseboards and replaced with 5 inch baseboards, removed wallpaper and old fireplace surround.

Kept half of the fireplace brick and added a wood beam to match the other wood beams. Painted the brick the same color as the walls.

Added new sod, removed pavers and small fence. Added decorative grasses along fence line.

Painted home Sherwin Williams Guantlet Gray, Fascia is Black Fox and trim is Repose Gray. Added stone around garage, new exterior lighting and house numbers, trimmed back the tree, added native grasses, a new front door and trim around windows.

Black slate entry, hickory hardwood planks on stairs, metal and wood custom railing, fresh paint.

Replaced white brick fireplace surround with red and gray brick to add warmth to the space. Added beam to fireplace and stained it the same color as ceiling beams and wood on the railing. Hickory Hardwood throughout.

Bringing the galley kitchen back! Love, love, love this galley kitchen!! Subway tile throughout and wrapped window with it. Shelving on both sides of window and glass cabinetry really open up the space and add glamour.

Powder bathroom. Found vanity at a local antique store. Drilled holes for plumbing and sink, sprayed with polyueruthane to protect the wood. European glass is installed in shower now.

Kids bath-tile shower, quartz counters. Tiled right in front of shower/bath, but the rest of the floor is hickory hardwood.

Large bedroom with sunken, living area. New homeowner can add a built-in desk and bookshelves to make it unique and functional. We chose to leave it open for the homeowner to do whatever they choose. Would also be a great toy/play area for kids.

Master bedroom and bath - enter through custom, double barn doors to get to master bath. Tile in front of shower and toilet. Hickory hardwood continues from master to the vanity.
