AND THE WINNER IS # 3!!! This drawing does not do the model justice. So to describe a more accurate visual...The front is not sided but paneled instead using Hardie Panels. It gives it a contemporary feel. The small patch of tan is the color of siding that covers the rest of the house.
2018 Modular Model
This is our Structural Modulars, Inc. 2018 home model display. This open floor plan features a master bedroom with a walk-in shower and lots of natural light throughout the home. This home could be yours on your lot!

Left side elevation. The front door is the one at the end of the model and opens into an open floor concept with the dining, kitchen, and living alond with a vaulted ceiling. The side door is towards the middle of the home that leads into a mud/laundry room.

Right side elevation. We wanted lots of windows to look out at the beautiful landscape and provide as much natural light as possible. The windows in the vaulted area will provide additional light even on those dreary days.

We also offer other truss systems (roof systems) including structured insulated panels (SIPs) and manufactured trusses. We also construct our ceilings with a ceiling jig which is squared up to ensure every ceiling is built to the quality that SMI is known for.

The ceiling drywall is glued to the trusses using a closed cell spray foam adhesive to establish continual connection and a flatter ceiling. Screws are not used unless requested or required by state building codes and in commercial construction.

While framing the floor we had to frame the master bathroom shower floor to include a sunken floor with proper drainage.

Once the perimeter band and floor joists are installed the sub floor of OSB 3/4" T & G (oriented strand board) is glued and screwed to ensure less squeaking and a uniform underlayment.

When the OSB is installed over the floor frame the team uses a screw gun in addition to gluing.

Floors are decked using 3/4" T & G OSB. The floor is glued with construction adhesive and the OSB is fastened using 2" staples on the perimeter and 2" screws every 12" in the field of the OSB.

Exterior walls are caulked at each connection when set to ensure there are no unwanted air penetrations.

We use an overhead crane system to position the exterior wall in place.

1/2" drywall is used unless fire rated drywall is requested by the builder or required for commercial construction. The drywall is glued and screwed.

Here we are beginning to install the interior walls. This interior wall is where the master bedroom meets one of the guest bedrooms.

While the floor is framed and exterior walls are constructed the roof system is built. At SMI we design and construct our own roof trusses.

Our trusses are built with top grade materials including Southern Yellow Pine (SYP)for the top and bottom chords. OBS gusset plates with steel carriage bolts are used for the hinge plates.

Station 2 is where all of the electrical wiring, HVAC, and plumbing lines are run. "The Pit" provides direct access from underneath and serves as a temporary basement just like a site built home.

We use a vapor barrier primer and scuff the walls after the initial flash coat then scrape and sand between each coat applied.
