2018 PHS Flower Show - Without Water
Water’s absence defines a landscape as much as its presence. Desert landscapes receive less than 10 inches of rain per year and yet, life finds a way. Streams provide a lifeline oasis until the sand’s thirst cannot be quenched. Rocks are cracked by drastic temperature changes, weathered by beating sun and wind born sand. Different rock layers can be worked into designs lasting hundreds of years in a landscape where vegetation grows slowly and water is more valuable than gold. This exhibit was made possible through sponsorship by Bank of America.
