Barney Residence, Hidden River, Crested Butte, CO, 2006-2008
Sited on the wide open valley just south of Crested Butte, this home is a series of three distinct structures connected along the east west axis, each gathering sun from the south, while maintaining views in several directions. Strong winds from the north and west were considered in the placement of exterior gathering spaces. Every architectural element of the building was handcrafted by local artisans. Karen and Jim worked as both design consultants and drafts persons to John and Tracy Barney.
