This residence was designed to preserve a large Live Oak tree that covers the entire middle of the lot. The linear layout of the house is simple in form, respecting the existing tree, responding to economy of scale, and a modest construction budget. The house is a great example that modern architecture can be accessible to the mass and not just an elite few. The home was designed for comfortable everyday living with a focus on low maintenance materials, natural day lighting, and a strong connection to the landscaping. The outdoor living area is articulated by a cantilevered volume that creates a covered outdoor seating area next to the pool.
