The homeowners loved their home in Apple Valley overlooking the lake, but the main floor no longer fit the way they lived. Like many homes built in the late 1980s, the kitchen was separated from the dining room, the adjacent living space sat a step below the rest of the main floor, and the finishes made the home feel darker than it really was.
