A Hidden Gem in Sloans Lake
An 8 foot tall custom stone and stucco water feature create a private oasis for this client living in the city. Not only does it screen out neighbors and the street, but it functions as a beautiful focal point for both the patio and an adjoining room; an 11 foot wide window was installed so the home office could look out over the courtyard. Seat walls make the space feel more like a room and ample landscaping lighting allow the courtyard to be enjoyed late into the evening. The water feature's underwater lights create a kinetic lightshow on the stucco behind it. The candle windows are a unique finishing touch incorporated by one of our designers. The large flower pots are filled with annuals every year to add a burst of color.
It took 12 pallets of cinder block to make the walls, porch and water feature for this project.
The wet laid flagstone pathway is 10 feet wide and is a beautiful path to walk along the landscape and up to the fully covered porch. We also installed the wood structure above the porch, and made several custom art pieces for the project.
Landscape lighting highlights the color of the trees and plants, even at night. A fixture was mounted on the roof of the porch and points through the branches at the patio. This technique is called Moonlighting and is a sophisticated way to illuminate a patio or pathway.
