A Modern Romantic Décor
With No Pink in Sight!
The Modern Romantic style is a grown up and current take on the traditional romantic style, which usually features copious amounts of pink as well as flowers, elaborate chandeliers and canopy beds.
While all of those are lovely, we made it our mission to come up with the Modern Romantic décor. One that feels glamorous and feminine, but also sleek and minimalist. It’s a new way of introducing drama into your home.
We started with white walls, our favorite blank canvas. A darker eggshell tone, a grey or soft pastel hue would also look beautiful. Our walls are accentuated with delicate moulding, adding subtle visual interest. Muted wallpaper, metallic mirror accents or a gallery wall would complement this style as well. The secret to the Modern Romance look is to invest in pieces that make a strong impact. In our living room, we paired our cream-coloured tufted Carly sofa with the Asia collection tables, showcasing rustic reclaimed wood on industrial stainless-steel coated iron. The juxtaposition of soft and bold, of light and dark, is truly what brings this romantic look into 2016.
Our bedroom follows the same rules. Our upholstered Versailles bed, in the rich Midnight tone, takes center stage in this soft space. Its nail head trim, as well as the metallic cushions, Rosa bedside table and Jasper lamp, add the little bit of edge this room requires.
In the dining room, our aerial Stardust table, with its geometric base and barely-there square tempered glass top, was paired with the black Boston chairs, creating high contrast with the white walls and floor boards. The Sunburst mirror, in all of its metallic glory, adds a little bit of whimsy in an otherwise fairly neutral space.
