Prestigiously located in the Park Slope Historic District of Brooklyn, this classic brownstone showcases a stunning renovation and optimization of space by the Dixon Projects team. When purchased, the building had been divided into separate apartments; however, the team chose to convert the property into a massive single-family home. The challenge for the Dixon Projects team was clear: upgrade this historic four-family home into a single-family townhouse with modern amenities while keeping its historic integrity intact.
Built in 1869, the original details of the façade had faded over time. In order to restore the beautiful features of the home’s exterior to their original grandeur, the team successfully completed a full brownstone renovation, revitalizing the classic details of the lintels, sills, entrance and stoop. In addition, new cornices and slate installation were completed to restore the opulent mansard roof, reminiscent of the home’s Second Empire style.
Following this approach, the interior of the home features expertly-salvaged elements harmoniously combined with contemporary additions. An original large-carved mirror was kept in the entryway where it sits gracefully atop a new bench, while a decorative fireplace mantel adorned in ornamentation accents the newly-designed master bedroom. Similar to the precision of the home’s original features, the Projects team worked meticulously to enhance the details of every new addition. This brownstone home now boasts brand-new custom wall paneling throughout the interior, including the elevator, while the spacious kitchen, walk-through closets, and bathroom vanities were designed completely in-house to suit the rich history of this street corner gem.
Upon completion, this grandiose home boasts seven bedrooms and seven-and-a-half baths. An adept maximization of space, the team optimized the outdoor square footage by extending the garage roof deck by forty feet. The exterior also features a large front areaway and a main roof deck at the apex with elevator access and 360 degree views including the nearby Barclays Center and the Freedom Tower in the distance. In addition, this Park Slope residence boasts ultra-premium features like, a four-car garage, oversized street windows and a marble tiled sit-in shower.
Marking another collaborative success for the Dixon Projects team, this enviable home is a masterful assembly of old and new, packed with delightful amenities and polished charm.
