A Timeless Classic White Kitchen
VISION. It's one of the most important reasons to work with an interior designer. A designer can "see" a dated space transformed before a sledge hammer has ever struck its first blow. Vision is the reason the HGTV show Property Brothers is a smash hit.
"Before" pictures help potential clients understand the value in hiring an interior designer for their project. (They are a lot like a weight loss "before" picture. It is only after seeing the "before" that others truly appreciate the after.)
In this dramatic kitchen makeover we took a dated, early 1990's kitchen and completely transformed the space into a dream kitchen.
Key to this remodel was creating functionality. The Before kitchen had very little counter top space - it was broken up by a sink or a stove top.
Additionally, the position of the island in the original layout cut the rather large space in half and made getting to the fridge a task. By re-positioning the island and closing a pass through to the formal dining room (which became a den), Devine Designs created a much more functional space.
The large picture window in the bay was relocated just to the left, in a hallway that leads to the laundry room and garage. This provided a source of natural light to the laundry room which had no window.
A kitchen fireplace, which replaced the picture window, features a pull-down bread warmer and transforms the nook into a warm, inviting space for guests. The sea grass wing back chairs provide comfortable seating out of the way of the busy cook while remaining close enough for conversation. Elevating the fireplace ensured it could be seen and enjoyed by the cook as well guests.
