A compact 28 square meter studio apartment situated below ground. The goal was to create a separate guest unit with maximum comfort and function. The primary challenges were low ceilings and a lack of natural light. In addition, the client requested that we incorporate storage space because this was her only storage area in the building.
Collaboration with a lighting designer helped find the best solutions to illuminate the space, using a combination of eco-friendly LED wall profiles, overhead spots and floating ceilings. The contractor excavated three existing window wells which opened up just the right amount of storage space inside.
The result is a stylish and cozy guest retreat composed of three areas: the bedroom/office, hall/kitchenette and bathroom with all the basic amenities one might need.
