Abstract Art Project Summer 2018

In an attempt to work on my solo show for the winter of 2019, I spent most of my summer of 2018 creating the paintings for my "Dressed to Match" art show. Many of these original paintings are available for sale during the show which opens on February 7th in Henderson, Kentucky at the Ohio Valley Art League Rotunda Gallery. They have been painted on a variety of surfaces so as to 'upcycle' art and supplies, simply taking up space in my studio. I only allowed myself to buy a minimal amount of paint and resin to complete this process.

The surfaces I used were canvass, travertine tile, ceramic tile, metal, acrylic, wood, sea shells...just to name a few. And they were executed in a variety of sizes starting with the smallest objects first. It was all very experimental, since I had never even painted before. In other words, no grand plan. If I didn't like it, I simply painted over it. After all, I was already painting over one of my previous pieces of art anyway.

All of these were photographed for limited edition prints, fabrics and wearable art as well. Some of the softer color palettes were used to design my "Escaping to South Beach" collection. It features a bathing suit, flip flops, beach bag, parasol and swimsuit cover up. Whereas the red, white, and blue color palettes were used for my new "British Rocker" clothing collection. I've included a few of the wearable art pieces here as well.
