Aging in Place Bathroom Remodel
Remodeling a 1922 duplex for a client/owner who loves her home and wants to age in place was no easy task. The nearly 100 year old house needed more than just a bathroom upgrade. Since there was only one bathroom, and moving out was not an option, a makeshift bathroom was constructed in the basement to accommodate the nearly 5 month remodel. The house needed new windows in the basement and bath, a new electrical panel, new siding on the entire west side, a new roof and gutters, exterior paint, a new exterior side door, plus the ADA bathroom re-model, along with changes to both adjoining bedroom closets, a new laundry space, a linen closet and hallway re-design. With the reframing and wall moving, came new plumbing, wiring, smooth sheetrock walls, fresh paint, new casework, additional lighting, new window treatments, new hardwoods, heated marble tile, wool carpet and even a new custom paint treatment for the client's childhood dresser...
