This Chicago area kitchen remodel was a full gut renovation completed with great care to preserve the home’s original character while incorporating modern functionality. The existing layout was reworked to improve flow and efficiency by adding a dedicated laundry room and introducing a small hallway that separates the kitchen from the bathroom, creating clearer transitions and a more comfortable daily experience.

The remodeled kitchen feels as though it has always belonged to the house. Warm wood cabinetry, classic proportions, and timeless detailing reflect the home’s architectural roots, while modern appliances, updated lighting, and improved storage bring the space into the present.

In the adjacent mudroom and laundry room, we introduced a mosaic tile inspired by the patterns and materials used when the house was originally built, reinforcing the sense that this new space is original to the home.

The result is a thoughtfully remodeled kitchen and laundry space that feels cohesive, enduring, and fully suited to modern living while respecting the home’s history.
