Alpine Meadows Modern
This transformation of an old cabin into a modern mountain retreat was a very complex exercise for both the designer and builder.
The result, a contemporary 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage addition designed by David Bourke of Ward/Young Architects, features exposed structural steel, board-form concrete and wood siding without the use of any trim. Such a clean, modern aesthetic required extremely precise craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Part of the design and construction challenge was to solve several access issues on the steep creek side lot. Three hundred sticks of dynamite were used to remove a granite slab so the garage and entry could be at street level.
