This residential addition included an enlarged studio space at an existing carriage-house style art studio and wood shop. The new art studio includes a large north-facing dormer for maximum lighting, French doors leading to outdoor seating and work area, and large windows for views to the adjacent wooded yard, as well as a full bath, kitchenette, and storage closet. We successfully achieved the property owner's objective to design an addition that blends with the style of the original structure; creates a large, open studio feeling with wide views to the scenic yard; while maintaining a minimum profile in comparison to the existing residential buildings.
