The Atkinson's purchased a five bedroom, two bathroom English Cottage style home, built in 1947. A barely usable second floor bathroom connected to the master bedroom needed a complete transformation. The design created a spa-like destination space that is light, airy, and highly function. While the aesthetic picked up on vintage features of the original house, the functionality is completely modern. The project also included a new master bedroom and walk-in closet. Sustainable features and strategies consist of lumber from sustainably manages forests, zero-voc finishes that do not contaminate indoor air quality, natural day lighting and ventilation, whole house passive cooling, and zonal heating. The project team included Mark Gianforti Construction, John the Plumber, Bunchberry Woodworking, and Robbins Electric Inc.
