Conversion of a two story duplex into a single family residence. The first floor apartment was remodeled into proper public spaces suitable for entertaining larger groups. The former kitchen and dining areas were reconfigured into a mud room, kitchen and gathering room. A former bedroom wall was removed to allow for a new media room to connect to the gathering room. Another bedroom was deconstructed and combined with a hallway to become a dining room. The dedicated stair to the second floor apartment was freed from confining walls to allow for a proper entry foyer with connections to the gathering room, dining room, living room and new powder room.
