In this beach-side apartment originally built in the 70's, the space was completed 'gutted' and redesigned to maximize airy views and the restful sounds and sights of the Gulf of Mexico just outside. A square motif was repeated throughout, in cabinetry, door, lighting and decorative details to create a cohesive wholeness, even though the color palettes of each room vary with the preferences of the family's members. In general, the colors of water, sea glass, driftwood, corals and intense sunshine guided the mood. The resulting home is a delightful retreat for a client ready to escape Illinois winters.
