For this staircase we had to strip and sand all the clear varnish off the stairs. We then applied to coats of stain and two coats of clear to make the stairs really pop and shine. For the spindles we hand sanded all the clear to a dull finish and applied a gripper primer and two coats of white paint. Then end result was spectacular!
