Before and After DL Closet Organization Project

✨ Closet Organization Project
A transformation from an overfilled closet to a clean, categorized, and color‑coordinated wardrobe

? Project Overview
This project focused on organizing a closet that had become extremely packed, making it difficult to see or access clothing. The client’s main request was to have all pieces properly categorized and color‑coordinated, while keeping the layout simple and functional.

? Process

1. Full Reset & Decluttering
The closet was completely emptied to assess the full wardrobe. Because the space was overcrowded, several pieces were removed to prevent the closet from becoming jammed again.

2. Creating Three Large Sorting Piles
All clothing was divided into three large piles to simplify the sorting process. Each piece was individually reviewed to determine its category and ideal placement within the closet.

3. Categorizing All Clothing
Every item was sorted into clear clothing categories, including:
- Tops
- Bottoms
- Dresses
- Outerwear
- Activewear

4. Sub‑Categorizing by Type
Within each category, pieces were grouped by type to create a clean, intuitive structure:
- Tops → tanks, tees, blouses, sweaters
- Bottoms → jeans, trousers, slacks, skirts
- Outerwear → light layers, jackets, coats

5. Color Coordination
After sorting by type, all clothing was arranged in a smooth color flow from light to dark, creating a visually balanced and easy‑to‑navigate closet.

6. Placement Based on Closet Layout
The closet’s left‑and‑right wall design guided the final arrangement:

- Right wall (facing the client):
All dresses were placed here, organized by type and then color. Higher‑end dresses were positioned toward the back for protection and neat display.

- Left wall:
Designed with a top‑and‑bottom layout.
- Upper section: All tops arranged by type and color.
- Lower section: Pants, slacks, and skirts hung below, also sorted by type and color.

- Jackets and winter pieces:
Placed toward the back of the closet as an organizational strategy to keep everyday items more accessible.

? Final Result
The closet shifted from packed and overwhelming to clean, categorized, and fully color‑coordinated. The new layout supports easy visibility, simple daily use, and a visually cohesive wardrobe that reflects the client’s preferences.
