Berkeley Brown Shingle Kitchen & Powder Room

It used to be that servants were kept to the most utilitarian rooms and families lived in the front parlors. This lovely home was no different, until today's modern family of five moved in. Almost everything was original, with the exception of the minor kitchen remodel in the 80's. It's no wonder the modern front-loading washing machines didn't fit and the family needed to bring in a "portable" dishwasher. With Oikos Architecture on the team, we opened up the the walls of the kitchen and moved the laundry room upstairs. The fun challenge was to keep original elements like cabinetry and a pass-through to the dining room and bring in new ones that complimented the age of the home.
