Berkeley Tudor

In this extensive renovation of a 20th-century Tudor, we thoughtfully restored and reimagined the home to support a lively family of six. Shared living areas, bedrooms, and bathrooms were fully modernized to improve function, flow, and durability, incorporating performance fabrics, generous storage, and hardwearing finishes suited to everyday life. Throughout the process, we preserved the home’s historic charm while weaving in elements of the family’s cultural heritage, love of color, and cherished heirlooms. The result is a warm, welcoming space designed to embrace community and withstand kids, gatherings, and the rhythms of daily living.

Our clients' home is a stately Tudor with four ensuite bedrooms. A warm, welcoming space meant to host family and friends.

The main door leads to the entry hall. To the right is the living room and stairway. Directly ahead of the entry is the library. We reupholstered a vintage settee the clients had, replacing the torn rattan, and using a performance teal velvet for the cushion.

The arched wall between the dining room and kitchen and the curved hood were designed to be cohesive with the doorways throughout the home. The backsplash is a marble arabesque mosaic installed above quartzite countertops. The emerald Zellige tile backsplash was installed in a unique pattern.

The downstairs powder room is a statement! All four walls are covered in a dark and moody tropical wallpaper featuring baboons and hornbills. Narrow sconces and a milky globe ceiling light fixture bring just the right amount of light. The brass swan faucet adds to the whimsy.
