Published in Dwell, the design of the retreat is rooted in community, authenticity, and sustainability. Built by legendary jazz musician Charles Lloyd, the property now serves as a shared vacation retreat for a close-knit group of friends. As the designer, my goal was to honor the home’s architectural influences while bringing in the eclectic spirit of the new owners.

Sustainability was a top priority. Nearly all furnishings were sourced locally and are vintage or secondhand, giving the space both character and a lighter environmental footprint. The result is a soulful, serene hideaway that feels deeply rooted in its surroundings—perfect for gathering, reflection, and creative escape.
