Black and white Paintings

This series is a portrayal of the various situations faced by women who are suppressed, oppressed or controlled by societal or cultural pressures, including patriarchal family structures. I can personally relate to some of them myself. These contemporary compositions are emotionally engaging and identifiable for many women around the world. We have come so far yet still restrained. My mission is to empower these women, including myself, by focusing on how to deal with the circumstances rather than give in and feel victimised. Because you . . . you are the captain of your soul (subconscious mind).

Black and White fascinates me. I find the creative process with black and white colors very artistic and sophisticated. But it can be a little more challenging because you don't have colors to fall back on. It's all about composition and how you're utilizing space and the subject itself. That makes it strong, high contrast and powerful. So do the figures which evoke many kinds of feelings and emotions.
