A historic West Village townhouse, built in 1817, was completely renovated with custom millwork and a cantilevered wood stair. The building’s original ceiling beams, exposed brick and wide-plank flooring are contrasted with modern countertops, white-washed woodwork and contemporary art. By creating an open floor plan and eliminating all full-height partitions, we embraced the apartment’s small footprint and transformed it into a light-filled residence.
