Boomhut
The verticality and material selection of this contemporary form keep it comfortably nestled into the surrounding forest. The topography of the site allowed for a daylight garage and entry, with a walk off deck/patio on the backside of the home. We wanted to get the main living spaces up a bit to reach more daylight through the trees. The end result is an effectively day lit and very cozy home that feels like a treehouse as you look through the extensive glazing into the trees. The master bedroom comprises the upper level twos tories up and feels like a getaway with its own balcony. It has a nicely appointed bathroom featuring a corner tub with a view.
To minimize the necessary square footage, we built in as much as possible, including the couch and dining area in the great room, and a very cozy twin bed nook in the studio. The architecture lent itself to some very fun color choices by the artistic clients.
