When we were asked to redo the fourth floor of a Boston brownstone, we jumped on the opportunity. Three girls - all under the age of 10 - occupy the space so it was a job that was practically made for us. The clients' must haves: storage, storage, storage and maximized space. This isn't always easy to accomplish in a Boston brownstone, but we managed to do it with style and flair!

In Bedroom 1, the oldest girl now enjoys a spacious bedroom with a daybed, drawers and side tables (all built ins). Her pink, orange and turquoise color scheme matches her fashion forward personality. She also has a set of glass shelves where she can display all her goodies. (This one likes to be able to see her things.) In terms of her decor, the staples are sophisticated while the fillers feel young. We wanted to make sure she could grow into the room, well into her teenage years, with only minor changes (like pillow swaps).

In Bedroom 2, the younger girls are privy to a candy colored space and it's a little more playful. This playfulness is also true to their personalities. The slanted roofline (unavoidable because of historic restrictions) was leveraged with the use of a bright and bold wallpaper that covers the ceiling. Bunk beds keep the room from feeling too tight and built in bookshelves make use of as much space as possible. (These smart girls love to read and books are a staple in this household.) Because of the way the furniture is laid out, there is still plenty of space to play. This allows the girls to spread their toys out, but open storage containers make clean up a breeze. Everything comes out as easily as it goes back in.
