Box House

The goal was to save as much of the existing house but due to poor overall construction a team decision was made to preserve only the basement. That being said, it formed the footprint and "story" for the design.

The home takes advantage of a sloping site by creating three living levels, each with distinct uses. The main level is for gathering, the lower level for play and utilities and the upper level for sleeping.

Simple and clear external geometries and an open plan with limited circulation space were developed as a means to create living spaces which fit the family's lifestyle and budget. Abundant natural light and vistas of the adjacent park are present throughout.

The exterior features a range of cladding materials accented by “punches” of color.
