Cape Cod Renovation | Milford, NH
This project was an ambitious renovation/addition. We added a two story garage with an office space above and did a complete overhall of the original 1990's cape. A top priority for the clients was the energy retrofit of the envelope to increase energy efficiency, improve comfort and reduce the use of fossil fuels in heating and cooling the house. 1" foam was added to the exterior of the house, all new windows and doors and additional insulation in the basement and attic was added to maximize the energy efficiency of the home.
In addition, a low maintenance exterior was also important. Hardie Plank siding was used on the garage and Cedar Expressions vinyl was used on the home. Kleer PVC and aluminum was used for the trim and corrugated galvanized sheets were used to add interest on the rear elevation.
The home had granite steps and a patio and the homeowners reused these materials in the new design. LED lighting was installed throughout and a gutter system was installed to collect rainwater that will be used to feed the gardens in the summer months.
