Casa Blanca

A gut-renovation of a 1-bedroom Co-op in the heart of Brooklyn's Clinton Hill. The project goal was to reconfigure a spatial imbalance between living and sleeping spaces: The oversized bedroom was cut in half to provide a dining space, while the existing 5x6 kitchen was relocated, providing a new flexible space, used as a nursery.

The built-in Europly cabinetry throughout brings clever storage, while a concealed Murphy bed provides additional sleeping space for overnight guests. Additional doors were salvaged from a schoolhouse in Brooklyn. A painted oak floor and transom windows bring sun to all corners of the home. Custom radiator covers are inspired by Autocad hatching patterns while concealing the heat and air conditioning units. Exposed cement beams highlight the bones of the post-war building.
