Cedar Street Bathroom Reno

Our clients live in a historic, urban home in Halifax’s west end. It was the main bathroom for a busy family of three, who all found the small space to be challenging and outdated.

There was a strong desire from one of the members to have a small soaker tub, and another wanted double sinks. Thankfully, we were able to expand the bathroom into a neighbouring long closet with under-utilized space. Even with the additional few feet in length we couldn’t accommodate both requests, so a choice had to be made.

In the end we felt that it was best for them to have a separate shower space to avoid the awkward use of shower curtains that can occur with a soaker tub. We achieved this by placing the tub in the shower, allowing the clients maximum space for bathing and showering.

The barrier-free entrance to the shower keeps the look clean, simple and open. It also keeps the focus on the fan-shaped tile on the back wall, which is further reinforced by the whiteness of the surrounding walls, ceiling and floor.

Contemporary yet classic, the design gives a nod to traditional elements, yet keeps the style fresh and appealing.
